Annie Hollander Speaks at UT Austin
Congratulations to Annie Hollander who was invited to speak at the UIL Student Activities Conference at The University of Texas at Austin. Annie is a 2013 UIL State Finalist in Extemporaneous Persuasive Speaking. Jana Riggins, UIL Speech Director, extended an invitation to Annie to present a demonstration of her event at the prestigious UIL conference. In her invitation Riggins said, “Allow me to extend my sincere congratulations upon your success at the 2013 UIL State Meet. Your accomplishments in competitive speech will not only be a highlight of your high school career, but certainly will play a significant role in your success later in life.”
While at the conference Annie had an opportunity to demonstrate an extemporaneous speech in front of students and coaches from different parts of Texas—this was the largest crowd in front of which Annie has performed. After her demonstration Annie entertained questions from the audience and offered pointers on how to be successful in Extemporaneous Speaking. Her coach, Mr. Margarito Ayala said he received many wonderful comments on Annie’s performance.
“Ms. Hollander has certainly made Carrizo Springs High School and her community proud. Carrizo Springs should be very proud that it continues to make its presence known by sending us such excellent academic UIL students each year,” said one UIL official. Thank you to UIL coaches Mr. D. Valerio and Ms. Lucinda Galvan for accompanying Annie on her trek to Austin.
