Students Kick Off Their Season At The
UIL Student Activities Conference
The Wildcat
UIL Team traveled to Corpus Christi in order to attend the annual UIL Student
Activities Conference. For most of the
schools in Texas, this marks the beginning of the UIL season. This conference brings UIL students and
coaches from all over Texas so that they can learn new strategies and review
new material associated with their respective UIL events. In many cases, there were even demonstrations
presented by last year’s state competitors.
“This event is so important, especially for novice competitors. It gives students a chance to get valuable
strategies from UIL state competitors and state directors and coaches,” said
Mr. Daniel Valerio, Jr., UIL Coordinator.”
We want to thank all the students (see photo)
who woke up very early after a home football game and gave up their Saturday to
improve their UIL skills by attending this conference. We would also like to thank coaches D.
Valerio, A. Ramirez. M. Ayala, B. Byars, J. Herrera, J. Haberman, and R.
Escamilla for accompanying their students on the trip. “Everyone seemed to learn a great deal and
newcomers to UIL solidified their choice of event(s). I believe this will be another great season
for Wildcat UIL. How ‘Bout That Awesome Wildcat
Brain Power!
